About Motorola

Motorola Inc., was founded in the year 1928 by Paul V. and Joseph E. Galvin in Chicago. In Telecommunications business, they were considered as the successors but around the year 2007 they faced a loss of $4.3 billion and finally resulted the division of the company in the year 2011, into two separate public companies which are Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions . Motorola Solutions was the direct successor of the parent company and went into telecommunications equipment business whereas Motorola Mobility went into mobile device manufacturing business.

Just after an year of split Google bought Motorola Mobility for US$12.5 billion and Motorola Mobility continued its android phone manufacturing but just after three years, in 2014 Google sold this to another Chinese mobile manufacturing company “Lenovo”. So now Motorola Mobility is owned by Lenovo. In 2016 Lenovo started marketing Motorola Mobility mobile phones under “Moto” name.
