Xiaomi expands in Latin America through MexicoPublished On:
Along with offering two new devices, Xiaomi is finally taking a
step forward in order to expand its business to Latin America through
Mexico. Reportedly, the Chinese Smartphone maker is all set to launch a
“Mi Community LATAM” for its fans too.
On Tuesday, the company announced that it would start selling two of
its devices, The Redmi Note 4 which will start at 5,499 Mexican pesos
(approximately $296, £221 or AU$390) and the Redmi 4X which will start
at 3,999 Mexican pesos ($209, £161 or AU$284)., in Mexico.
But that’s not all, as the company is also planning to launch a
mobile application for all the “Mi Fans” named as “Mi Community LATAM”.
According to the company, this mobile application provide its
customer-created Xiaomi en Mexico Facebook group – that has 15,000
members approximately – as an official home.
Fans that will actively participate on Mi Community will get special
access to events and products. This application will be available on the
Google Play Store – Mexico this month and will definitely soon be
rolling out to other Latin American Countries, the company said:
“Mexico is a really important market for us and acts as our starting
point to reach the rest of Latin America,”Director of Product Management
and Marketing for Xiaomi Global – Donovan Sung, said in a press
release. “We hope to continue growing our presence here with the
constant support of our passionate Mi fans.”
Well, this is surely not going to be the Xiaomi’s first push into
Latin and South America as the company has already sold gadgets in
Mexico earlier via third parties. Moreover, Xiaomi also sells its
devices in Brazil, but a year ago the company downsized its operations
in the country.
